Carolina Herrera is one of the designers with whom you can count continuously to offer an elegant silhouette without any effort.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of Carolina Herrera in the world of fashion and her Spring-Summer collection, shown in Manhattan during Fashion Week was a smart and successful mix of before and now. This collection, divided into two parts is faithful to the brand Herrera, specially the casual collection where the designer paid homage to her traditional white shirt. This runway show consisted of six different looks, all centered around a formal white shirt, although each model had an accessory that differentiated them from the others and with the help of colorful stripes, oversized necklaces and western-style ties Herrera took the most outstanding points of her career and refreshed them for today's women, giving each look a fresh, dynamic and a different touch.
The formal part of the runway also possessed a casual appearance, an uncomplicated elegance without the need to be too detailed. In addition the fact that the designer was inspired by personal memories and flashbacks for the creation of the dresses made them much more memorable pieces. The best example of these memories becoming art was observed in a beautiful dress without shoulders, wrapped in the bust, in a graphic scheme of black and white, which was inspired by a gingham blouse that the designer used to wear all the time. In this collection, Herrera also revealed a series of white and black striped dresses that emphasized a night sophistication - although it was only 10 o'clock in the morning. Hair and make-up for the show had a similar feel, too. The models had their hair parted to one side and pulled back into a tight bun and their beauty aspect was perfectly minimalist.
It was not until the end of the show that Herrera took on a more contemporary style where the metallic embroidery that accompanied the designs were slim and stylized, the few jean dresses acquired violet and black colors which led to a rather relaxed look despite their weight. The designer took knits, tulle skirts and a simple white halter neck dress over a polo shirt to present the most youthful part of her collection; A collection that although it is framed in the past and in the memories of Herrera it felt quite current and modern.
