"We need to come back together as a stronger, united nation" Hillary Clinton - Concession speech
Those words have never been more true and honest than after last night's election results and the luring question that now remains: how to put a nation together again with a president that, frankly in my opinion, doesn't care about good part of his people.
I don't live in the United States and yet the results of the elections were as heartbreaking to me as to many of my friends who do live there.
As a Latina Girl one of my main dream is to finish my career in Latin America and then move to the United States. Now with Trump as a president I'm afraid I won't be able to do that because of his take on Latinos.
I really don't get how a person that doesn't respects Inmigrants, Muslims, Latinos, Women and members of the LGBT community can be president of anything, let alone a nation. Isn't that going back in time in relation to Human Rights? Isn't that unfair to those who have fought really hard for those rights?
Today in class my history teacher started talking about the subject and in his opinion America isn't ready for a female president, I couldn't disagree more. America IS ready for a female president but the problem is that many people don't agree with this and that is one of the main reason why Hillary didn't win last night.
But up until what point is America going to continue being so sexist, are they willing to wait until is too late?
This is more than a rant, this is the voice of a girl with dreams and with the hope that America can be great again but not in the way that Trump wants, where everyone is divided or not accepted whether is because of their sexes, nationalities, religions or beliefs. I believe in an America that can be great by being one where everyone is the same no matter their cultures, where everyone has the same rights and where people, men and women equally, don't have to be treated as less than what they are. This is why I will always be on Hillary's side and why I believe she would have been a much better President of the United States than Donald Trump will ever be.
